Readers Connection @ CPL

Book Discussion: Do you love to read? Do you enjoy sharing ideas with other readers? Then you might be interested in joining a book discussion group at the Charlevoix Public Library.

New participants are always welcome to join a book discussion group.

The CPL Book Talkers will meet October 29 at 6:00 to discuss I Capture the Castle, by Dodie Smith. This modern classic is the story of 17-year-old Cassandra and her family, who live in not-so-genteel poverty in the crumbling ruin of an English castle. Over six turbulent months Cassandra strives to hone her writing skills; her journals candidly chronicle the great changes that take place within the old castle’s walls, and her own first descent into love.

CPL Book Talkers will next meet December 10 at 6:00 to discuss Waiting for the Morning Train: an American boyhood by Michigan native Bruce Catton. One of America's great Civil War historians, Catton recounts his days growing up in Benzonia during the first years of the 20th century, describing an era of trains and timber. People who know and love the forests of northern Michigan will appreciate this book.

Writers’ Group: This group of writing enthusiasts (from beginning to published) meets Wednesday nights at 6 pm to encourage each other and share their work. The group welcomes all who are interested in writing for themselves, their family, or for publication.

For more information about these programs, call the library Information Services Desk at 237-7340.
