NEW SIDEWALKS

The sidewalks laid with rough pine boards, the streets were paved with sand.

THE ARGO

Above, the "ARGO," a modified Mackinaw boat owned by Professor D'Ooge of the Belvedere Club, sailing on Lake Charlevoix. The original Mackinaw boats, used by the early fishermen, were all without a bowsprit, which was added later for pleasure sailing.

STRIPPED DOWN "SHOODLE"

Below, Dan Schwartz seated on the stripped down "SHOODLE," at anchor in Old River, the old upper channel. On the left can be seen three more stripped down Mackinaw boats, used as work boats duting the summer months.
