The Teen Lounge is designed for teens in grades 9-12 (High School age).  The Information Services Desk has trained staff to help you find answers to homework questions, navigate the new databases and find what you need in our catalog.

Summer 2009

Book Safari

June, July & August

This summer, take a picture of yourself, along with whatever you’re reading, and where you’re at. Then send it to laura@charlevoixlibrary.org. Your picture will end up on display in the Teen Lounge and on the library’s Facebook page.

Pictures can be taken anywhere: the beach, a front yard, downtown Charlevoix, the library, a vacation, etc.


Graffiti T-Shirts

Wednesday, July 29, 1:00 - 2:00 pm

Need a new t-shirt? Come to the library & spray paint a white t-shirt to spice up your closet. Then, take your t-shirt home when you're done. T-shirts & supplies provided.


Henna Tattoos

Wednesday, August 12, 1:00 - 2:30 pm

Come to the library & get a temporary tattoo. Henna is an art of expression. Express yourself with this natural art.


Modern Dance Workshop

Saturday, August 29, 1:30 - 3:00 pm

Jumping Off the Bandwagon will be teaching you to express yourself through modern dance. You will be able to see Jumping Off the Bandwagon in action & you will be learn new dance movements. Anyone is welcome - no previous dance instruction needed!


Summer Reading Club Craft Show

Tuesday, August 4
5:30 - 7:30 pm

Be creative & earn cash this summer! Make a craft & run your own craft booth.


Coming Winter 2010: Teen Film Festival


Make a film, submit it to the library, watch it with your peers on the library big screen & vote on the films.

Hype Machine is an MP3 Blog

Pitchfork reviews new albums daily.

 

Creative Writing

Wordle is a toy for generating “word clouds” from text that you provide. The clouds give greater prominence to words that appear more frequently in the source text. You can tweak your clouds with different fonts, layouts, and color schemes.
