A Universe of Stories Summer Reading
Find your place in the Summer of Space when you register for A Universe of Stories Summer Reading Program.The Library of Michigan through the Collaborative Summer Reading Library Program (CLSP) creates materials and themes yearly to support libraries by encouraging positive literacy habits.Resident youth patrons are invited to keep reading all summer by registering to become a Rocket Rider or Moon Martian. Children who are 5 years of age or older are encouraged to become CPL card holder patrons to participate in summer reading.Visiting, non-card holder patrons are invited to keep reading all summer by participating in the Cosmic Cruisers drop in reading challenge that does not require registration.Upon registration, Rocket Riders and Moon Martians will receive a packet to log reading minutes.Teen Moonwalkers and Cosmic Cruisers will receive directions for completing reading challenges.Rocket Riders: Youth patrons ages Birth-5 years may complete a Rocket Reading Challenge this summer for a chance to win a freebook at the Shining Stars of Summer Reading Party. Parents of registered Rocket Riders must be CPL cardholders. (Need not bepresent at the party to win the book drawing.)Moon Martians: CPL youth patrons ages 5-12 years who are CPL cardholders may register to receive a Moon Martian reading packetfor the summer. Keep track of minutes read and earn shooting stars to spend on books from the Black Hole Book Bin at the ShiningStars of Summer Reading Party. (The book bin will be open at the youth desk until Saturday August 31 if you are not able to make it to the party.)Cosmic Cruisers: Just visiting for this summer and not a CPL card holder? Then you are a Cosmic Cruiser! Any non-resident youth agesbirth-12 years old visiting Charlevoix this summer may pick up a reading challenge for completion while in town. If you choose, bring your completed challenge back to the youth desk for a special bookmark!
