How would Ernest Hemingway describe his experience with COVID-19?

High school students in Charlevoix and Emmet counties are invited to explore their creative side in a new competition established by WCMU Public Media and local libraries to complement the Ken Burns and Lynn Novick documentary series that premiered on PBS, HEMINGWAY.

Cash prizes will be awarded, and student entries will be featured in WCMU and library online exhibits. Twenty entrants will be presented a copy of the book, “The Nick Adams Stories” by Hemingway. Winners will be featured on WCMU Public Radio’s “Mosaic,” hosted by David Nicholas.

Partial support for this competition comes from the Charlevoix County Community Foundation. Libraries that are supporting the project include Charlevoix Public Library, Crooked Tree District Library with the Boyne Falls Branch, Boyne District Library, Jordan Valley District Library and Petoskey District Library.

Corporate funding for HEMINGWAY was provided by Bank of America. Major funding was provided by the Annenberg Foundation, The Arthur Vining Davis Foundations, and by “The Better Angels Society,” and its members John & Leslie McQuown, the Elizabeth Ruth Wallace Living Trust, John & Catherine Debs, The Fullerton Family Charitable Trust, the Kissick Family Foundation, Gail M. Elden, Gilchrist & Amy Berg, Robert & Beverly Grappone, Mauree Jane & Mark Perry; and by the Corporation for Public Broadcasting and PBS.
