BRIDGE STREET, 1908

The above picture, looking north, was taken from the Antrim Street intersection just after dawn one day in early May. The building to the far left was the Oldham & Oldham Harness Shop. In the early Twenties it became the location of Bob Miles Photographic Studio and was a part of the Broan Motors, Inc., complex. Today, 1972, it houses a barber shop. The Masonic Building was built on the corner of Mason Street and Bridge Street a few years after the picture was taken. The building center left was the Bridge Street House, later the Ferguson House.

On the right is the Carpenter Building in the southern half of which was the Miller General Store. In the northern half was Hines Drug Store which later became Fessenden's Drugs, then Schroeder Drugs. Just north of the Carpenter Building was Ben Brown's luggage and harness shop. The large building center right was the Martha Ayers building, largest structure in the village.

The swing bridge can be seen in the far distance.
