Join us to hear Michigan Notable Book author Erin Bartels discuss her debut novel, We Hope for Better Things, a family saga set against some of the most volatile times in our country's history: The Civil War and the Underground Railroad of the 1860s, the Civil Rights movement and the Detroit Riots of 1967, and the present day. She'll talk about why she came to write this story, its seven-year journey from her head to bookshelves, and how she brought the different eras to life through research, interviews, and imagination.
