Requirements for obtaining a virtual library card:

Requirements for obtaining a library card:
- Patron must show proof of residency (as a tax payer or a rental agreement) in the Charlevoix Public Library District, which includes the City of Charlevoix, and the following townships: Charlevoix, parts of Eveline, Hayes, Marion, Norwood, and also Banks Township in Antrim County.
- Patron must register in person.
- A photo ID is required at the time of registration. If your Charlevoix Address is not included on your photo ID, we require at least one document that includes your name and Charlevoix address.
Duration of Privilege
Library cards expire one to three years from the issue date, depending on your residency status. Your card may be renewed in person or over the phone.
For patrons 5-12 years of age, a parent or legal guardian must be present to sign. The parent or legal guardian must have a Charlevoix Public Library card in good standing, with less than $10.00 in owed fines.
A one year, non-resident card is available for those who are employed in the library district but do not live within the boundaries. Photo ID and proof of employment are required at the time of registration.
Options for Out of District Patrons
Charlevoix Public Library participates in the MILibraryCard program. If you have a library card from another library that participats in the MILibraryCard program you may register your home library card for full borrowing privileges. More info here
Purchasing a Card
If a patron would like borrowing privileges but does not meet the criteria, a non-resident card may be purchased. A yearly card is available for $100 and a 3-month card is available for $25.
